Horizon Walker Traits Guide: Stats, Effects, How to Transfer & Remove Traits

In Horizon Walker, the trait system plays a massive role in shaping your characters' overall performance. After leveling up your units and equipping them with gear, traits are the next most crucial upgrade—often even more impactful than giving them a signature weapon.

Think of traits as special characteristics that provide powerful stat boosts or bonuses tailored to each character. They’re the secret sauce that turns a good unit into a top-tier one.

Unique vs General Traits

Each character in the game has:

1 to 4 unique traits depending on their rarity. These traits are unlocked as you raise the character’s rarity.
At max rarity, a character will have all 4 unique traits. These cannot be transferred or removed—they're locked to that specific unit.
and 6 general trait slots, of which they come with  2 or 3 traits, depending on the character and their rarity. These are transferable, removable, and customizable, allowing you to build your characters based on your preferred playstyle or team composition.

How to Get Traits

Traits come with the characters you summon. So to get more traits, the most efficient method is to summon as many B rarity characters as possible. These low-rarity units are great for farming general traits that you can then transfer to your main team.

This method is cost-effective and allows you to build a library of traits to customize your best units.

How to Transfer Traits (Advanced Feature)

⚠️ Note: Trait transferring is not recommended for new players. It’s expensive and requires a solid understanding of the game’s mechanics. You’ll need:
